Strength Training

Let’s be real, strength training can be intimidating. I, for one, was one of those people who was both intrigued but scared to lift. When I first started out, I didn’t know what I was doing, and clearly didn’t have the strength to lift very much either. However, over time, I fell in love with strength training! It’s helped push me past my limits and become stronger and confident.

Here are some benefits of strength training:

  • Increase/maintain muscle mass

  • Increase/maintain bone density

  • Lower blood pressure

  • Increase HDL (good cholesterol) and decrease LDL (bad cholesterol)

  • Improve/increase metabolism

  • Improve strength and coordination

  • Prevent injuries (more coordination, less injuries!)

  • Improves physique (especially if you’re going for that defined/toned look or want more mass)

  • Improve cardiovascular fitness (Yes strength training is a great complement to cardiovascular activities too. They go hand in hand!)

  • Help with other daily activities or sports you participate in

There are some of the many benefits to strength training! Incorporate some lifting into your workout routine and reap these benefits!
