Cold and flu season is officially here, which means it’s time to prevent getting sick or relieve your cold symptoms if you’re already sick. I am not a doctor so please consult with a medical professional before trying any supplement. These recommendations are based on my own personal experience. Here’s what I like to take to prevent or treat my cold:
- Zinc – I like taking the dissolvable tabs to shorten my cold. There’s still more research needed to see if it truly helps shorten my cold, but based on my experience it’s helped me!
- Vitamin C – Vitamin C is great for your immune system. You don’t have to take supplements to get this. You can always eat some citrus fruits.
- Emergen-C – I like taking this when I need a boost of vitamins or feel like I’m starting to come down with something. If you’re already taking a multi-vitamin, that’s also great too.
- Umcka ColdCare chewables – When I’m already sick, I take these chewables, and they’ve helped shorten my cold! I’m not sure if it’s a placebo, but I feel better faster when I take these!
- Electrolytes – Staying hydrated is so important. I’ll throw in an electrolyte packet to make sure I’m getting enough electrolytes so it helps me stay well hydrated.
Some other things I like to do while sick:
- Eat bone broth or soup – There’s something so soothing about eating soup or having a warm broth.
- Drink tea
- Gargle with salt water – This helps with sore throats.
- Lozenges – This can help relieve sore throat pain.
- Fizzling shower tablets – If I’m really congested, then I’ll throw this in the shower. The smell helps me breathe better.
- VapoRub – The scent helps clear my sinuses and relieve coughs. I’ll put this on my chest before I go to sleep.
- Sleep!! Sleep is probably one of the best forms of medicine. I truly believe we get sick because we’re tired and burnt out so our immune systems aren’t running as well. Get some sleep and take those naps!
Let me know if you end up trying these and how they worked for you. Again, please check with a medical professional before trying any of the supplements 👩⚕️🏥
