Spring officially starts next Friday March 20th! I’m so excited for warmer weather and sunshine. My birthday is also in the spring which is probably why I love it so much!
As the days get longer and warmer, it’s an amazing time to take our workouts outside! Here are some outdoor workout ideas to try this coming season.
- Exercise outdoors – If you have workout equipment like dumbbells or bands, do your workout in the yard, park, or beach!
- Go for a walk – I absolutely love walking outside. Nothing beats getting my steps in while breathing fresh air. You can also change things up by walking in a new area, doing walking intervals, or walking in a hilly area.
- Jogging or running – Jogging and running outside beats running on the treadmill any way!
- Stretching or yoga – I feel so relaxed when I’m in nature so why not do yoga or stretching while you’re outside and feel extra relaxed?
- Do a circuit using a park bench or park equipment – You can do plenty of exercises on a bench – squats, push ups, tricep dips…the list goes on and on. Parks usually have outdoor workout equipment you can use too!
- Do a bodyweight circuit – No equipment? No problem! Bodyweight exercises are still an effective workout. Similar to the bench workout, you can do squats, push ups, lunges, and jumping jacks to name a few.
- Cycling – Cycling is also a great way to get cardio in and explore your surroundings!
- Swimming – Whether you swim in a pool, lake, or ocean, springtime has good weather for swimming too.
- Hill sprints – Crazy, I know, but if you want higher intensity cardio, try sprinting up a hill for a few rounds. My friend Taylor and I did this during quarantine when gyms were closed, and it was an amazing way to change up our cardio routine!
