Reset Your Routine Before January 1st!

2026 is quickly approaching! Many of us wait until the new year to start new habits, but why not start them now? We have 2 weeks until January 1st, which is the perfect time to set ourselves up for the new year! This can be a “soft launch” into 2026! That way, we can build the foundation, help you prepare, and then pick up momentum into the new year!

Here are some ways to reset your routine:

  1. Choose 1-2 habits you can start doing now – Make them easy and simple enough that you’re able to do them consistently such as drinking 8 glasses of water, walking 20 minutes a day, or no screen time before bed.
  2. Clean out your gym bag/home workout space – Having a clean bag and space not only feels great but also helps prepare you for your workouts! You can even declutter and donate any workout attire you may not wear anymore.
  3. Solidify your sleep schedule – Sleep is so important for our mental and physical health as well as recovery. When you feel rested, you’ll have more energy for your workouts! You’ll also be less likely to use lack of sleep as an excuse to skip the gym if you’re getting adequate sleep.
  4. Pick a weekly workout goal instead of a daily goal – Let’s say you want to work out twice a week, schedule it in your calendar! It doesn’t have to be the same days, but just honor your commitment of working out the same amount of times every week.
  5. Prioritize rest – December can be chaotic with the holidays so be sure to get enough rest! Do breathing exercises, meditate, and take breaks.
  6. Set goals for 2026 – Write down some goals you’d like to achieve next year. Remember to use the SMART acronym – specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. How can you break these goals into smaller steps? What small steps can you start now?

There’s no need to panic with new year’s resolutions! These are some of the small steps you can take today to prepare and build momentum in 2026. Which one of these are you going to try before this year ends?
