I get asked this question all the time, and the answer is… it depends.
- If you’re feeling very sick, then I would avoid working out and going to the gym altogether, so that you don’t feel worse and potentially spread your cold to others.
- If you’re feeling mildly sick and really want to work out, then I’d recommend keeping the workout light.
- High intensity workouts can suppress your immune system for a few hours which may worsen your cold.
- For example, instead of lifting as heavy as possible, I’d recommend lifting lighter. Instead of running or doing HIIT, you can go for a walk.
- If you’re starting to feel sick, then keep the workout light or make it a rest day! Sometimes our bodies just need rest and recovery, and it’s up to us to take care of ourselves and our bodies.
Remember to listen to your body! ❤️
