Guide To A Great Morning

For the past few months, I’ve been playing around and perfecting my morning routine! Having a great morning will set you up for a successful day. I was never a morning person until I became a trainer. Many of my sessions were first thing in the morning so I would wake up around 5 to train clients. Now with virtual sessions, I don’t wake up as early so I take advantage of this extra time to gradually wake up and add other healthy habits into my morning. Here’s what my morning routine looks like:

I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, get dressed, and put on make-up. I still wear make-up and treat it as a real day even if I don’t see my clients in person. This has helped tremendously in that feeling of normalcy. (I’ve also been weighing myself in the mornings as part of my nutrition plan with my coach.) I then drink 8 oz of water and some coffee, read my affirmations, and meditate for 5 – 10 minutes depending on how much time I have. Lastly I then eat breakfast so it may be simple like a shake or some toast. Note – I don’t look at social media until I’ve done all of this or until after my morning sessions. I used to scroll for a long time while lying in bed, which was neither productive or helpful.

I wake up a little earlier to make time for these activities. You may not have as much time for all of these, but you can start small with a quick healthy habit. Some of my favorite quick habits are:

  • No texting or social media upon waking up
  • Actually get out of bed! I always felt more groggy when I snoozed or would lie in bed for too long after waking
  • Meditating – even for a few minutes
  • Quickly journal/plan out your day
  • Read some affirmations to hype yourself up and remind yourself of who amazing you are
  • Drink some water
  • Quick breakfast or snack before you start the work day
  • Stretch

Try one of these out and see how it affects the rest of your day! Having a good morning sets you up for the rest of your day!
