In less than 8 weeks, we’ll officially be in summer! As a personal trainer, I know many of my clients start thinking about that “summer body,” wanting to feel more fit and toned this time of year. We see it everywhere: ads, social media, fad diets, and intense workout programs promising quick results.
Here’s the thing, you don’t need to be extreme. Every small, healthy action adds up! Shifting your mindset from achieving a certain look to focusing on getting stronger, healthier, and feeling good in your body can take a lot of that pressure off. Instead of feeling rushed or overwhelmed trying to “get ready” for summer, think of this as the perfect time to level up your routine in a way that feels sustainable.
Here are some simple tips to help you look and feel your best this summer: 💪☀️
- Work out 2-4x a week
- For strength and toning, I suggest strength training. You can do this in the gym, class, or while training with me! Overall, any workout or movement really adds up!
- Get more daily movement (walks, steps, staying active)
- I like to call them “movement snacks,” where I find some time throughout my day to move. It can be as simple as taking a 10 minute walk during your break or stretching for 5 minutes.
- Focus on protein with your meals
- We need protein for our muscles. Adequate protein will help you build and repair muscles after your workouts!
- Stay hydrated
- As it gets warmer, it’s so important to stay hydrated! Have a glass of water right when you wake up or after every meal.
- Keep your routine simple and realistic
- Start with small actions. This will help you stay consistent which is key!
- Get enough sleep
- Recovery is equally as important as the workouts and nutrition. If you’re exhausted then your body can’t function at its best! Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep. If that’s not possible, try to take short naps during the day.
You don’t need to make drastic changes or feel pressured to look “summer ready.” Focusing on small, sustainable habits and staying consistent will take you far! Keep going, trust the process, and give it time. It’s so worth it! You got this!
